We found this 1991 Mercedes 300 CE Coupe for sale on Craigslist in Phoenix, AZ. Listed for sale by its original owner, this 1991 300 CE has just over 90,000 original miles.

In any case, it appears to be in very nice condition indeed. So many W124 coupes you see for sale these days have bad aftermarket wheels, tinted windows and 150,000+ miles, it’s nice to see one that’s still stock with relatively low miles for a W124 Coupe.

Interior photos show that an aftermarket stereo has been installed, but that’s the only visible modification from stock. Additional photos show a clean dashboard without any sun damage and a sunroof that’s still functional.

The W124 series of sedans, wagons and coupes are extremely robust cars that will last 200,000+ miles if well maintained. A 300 CE – 24 model, like this car, fitted with the dual overhead cam, 4 valve per cylinder M104 engine are especially reliable. We like the 300 CE models up to 1992 because they don’t have the problematic wiring harness issues found in the later 1993 model year and later E 320 variants.

The listed asking price of $11,595 seems aggressive to me, but the market for any decent old Mercedes from the 1990s has nearly doubled in the past few years. Not too long ago I would have expected to pay no more than $8500 for a car like this. It’s hard to find coupes like this at all, let alone being sold by their original owner, so that’s worth something. I’d want to inspect whatever service records are available, and if everything checked out, I’d still want to do some negotiating on the price.  If I was in front of this one with $10,000 and the seller was willing to take it… it would be very hard to leave his driveway without it. In a few years I think we’ll be calling $11,000+ a pretty good deal on a one owner 300 CE.
