On the Market: 1997 Mercedes W210 E420
Who doesn’t like an E class with a V8? The W210 E class represents an excellent value in today’s market and this particular example in Brilliant Silver with grey leather interior looks to be a solid example.
The Mercedes W210 equipped with the 4.2 liter V8 in 1997 churned out 275 horsepower with just shy of 300 lb-ft of torque mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission. It’s a solid performer that can still carry the entire family. With just over 101,000 original miles, this car still has plenty of life left in it and seems to be worth our consideration.
What can we infer about the seller and how this car might have been cared for, just by inspecting the photos included in the ad carefully?
- Mercedes-Benz of Naples license plate frames, front and back
- Clean interior, car looks to have been washed, maybe event detailed for the photos
- Nice house in a nice neighborhood
- Always my favorite… what other cars does this person own? An Acura SUV in the garage and, well, that sure looks like a Porsche under the car cover.
This list of things in the photos doesn’t mean this is a great example, but together, they’re positive enough for me consider this car and at least contact the owner for more information. The plastic around the gauge cluster appears faded and potentially brittle, but such is life with a 20+ year old Florida car.
The ad states that it’s been ‘impeccably maintained’ and that it received ‘Brand new A/C in 2019.’
Located in Bonita Springs, FL – listed for sale on Craigslist – “Asking $5500 or best “reasonable” offer”.
Chances are, one could pick this car up for $4,000 with a little negotiating, maybe less. That, of course, will be the price of admission. I always budget AT LEAST $1,500 for immediate repairs and maintenance that any used Mercedes could probably use.
