The 2013 Mercedes E class represents the last of the ‘pre-facelift’ W212 models introduced for the 2010 model year in the United States. Production of the W212 generation E class continued through the 2016 model year, but looked a little different from the 2014 model year forward. Mercedes’ option packages can be confusing, specifically, the Premium 1 Package and Premium 2 Package (P1, P2 and on some Mercedes classes, the P3 Package), so we’ll dissect the contents as they pertain to the 2013 E class in this article.
This is pretty straight forward… there is a Premium 1 Package (P01 Pkg.) and a Premium 2 Package (P02 Pkg.) available for E class cars in 2013. MOST E classes that you find will have the P1 Package… not all of them, but in my experience, very few were actually built without the P1 Pkg.
The Premium 2 Package includes everything in the P1 Package, plus a few more options. Get it? P1 is a list of stuff… P2 is all the stuff in P1, plus more… see below for the specific equipment lists for each package.
For some specific models, the price of each package can vary, say, between the wagon and sedan or between V6 and V8 models. Both P1 and P2 Packages are standard equipment on E 63 AMG models (sedan and wagon).
The specific options in each package and prices by model break down like this:
2013 Mercedes E class P01 Pkg – Premium 1 Package
COST
E350 and E400 Hybrid – $4,000
E350 Wagon – $3,500
E550 – $4,450
E63 AMG (sedan and wagon) – Standard, no extra cost
EQUIPMENT IN THE P01 PKG. – Option codes in front, model specifics in parentheses
- 049/518 – iPod/ MP3 Media Interface (std. E63 AMGs)
- 218 – Rearview Camera (std. Wagons)
- 297 – Rear Side Window Sunshades (Wagons only)
- 401 – Heated & Active Ventilated Front Seats (V8s only)
- 432 – Active Multicontour Driver Seat (E63 AMGs only)
- 512 – COMAND Navigation

- 810 – Premium Sound System (std. E63 AMGs, n/a E400H))
- 873 – Heated Front Seats (V6s only)
2013 Mercedes E class P02 Pkg – Premium 2 Package
COST
E350 and E400 Hybrid – $6,450
E350 Wagon – $5,950
E550 – $6,900
E63 AMG (sedan and wagon) – Standard, no extra cost
EQUIPMENT IN THE P02 PKG. – Option codes in front, model specifics in parentheses
All contents of Premium 1 Package, plus:
- 600 – Headlamp Cleaning System (std. E63 AMGs)
- 608 – Adaptive Highbeam Assist
- 615 – Bi-Xenon Headlamps w/Active Curve Illum.
- 619 – Corner Illuminating Lamps
- 881 – Electronic Trunk Closer (std. Wagons)
- 889 – KEYLESS-GO
Again, Mercedes builds lots of cars for regular dealer inventory, so they build cars they think people will want to buy, that’s one of the reasons most cars are built by Mercedes with the Premium 1 Package. The vast majority of new Mercedes are regular dealer inventory cars, very few cars are actually ‘ordered’ with a specific option list by the customer.
Hopefully this brief synopsis of the definitions and differences between the Mercedes Premium 1 Package (P01 Pkg) and Premium 2 Package (P02) will help you make sense of the used cars you’re looking at on the market and how they are actually equipped.

Where can I find an operation manual for a 2013 Mercedes Benz E350 with a Premium 2 package? Looking to buy vehicle but no manual for car. Please advise.
Hi Jeff,
I would suggest eBay for used owner’s manuals of late model cars. Any E class owner’s manual will cover all the available options from all the option packages.
