Mercedes Color Code 623 H Light Ivory
Mercedes Color Code 623 H Light Ivory was introduced in 1973 and appeared on cars into the early 90s. Another color code, 658, also carried the name ‘Light Ivory’ that was in use in the 1960s. Anecdotally, 623 H was a very popular color, appearing across the model line, from W123 sedans and wagons and W126 cars to R107 SLs and even early R129 SLs, ‘Light Ivory’ had a long run.

The heading on this Light Ivory page seems to have the wrong number. It say 723 H, rather than 623 H.
Thanks Jim, good catch.. now corrected!
I have a 1990 R129 sl300 in this colour. The colour has aged really well.
Agreed… Light Ivory was a popular color for many years, through the 60s and 70s into the 90s. You don’t see too many R129s this color, but it does look good on them.
I have a 1985 300td in 623H. It’s was my daily driver before the pandemic. I’ve been working on it to get her back onto the road recently and found your post while looking for touch-up paint to deal with some rust spots.
Question for you – any difference between 623 and 623H? All of the paint websites just mention 623, but the placard under the hood is clearly 623H.

Good question… the letters that sometimes appear next to the paint codes on the data tag on old Mercedes cars (H or G) denote the original paint manufacturer that Mercedes used. “H” being “Herbert” and “G” being “Glasurit.” For touch up paint purposes, the paint code is really just the number.
